Debbie Oatts Speaks to Wish TV about Diversity Outreach Event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway
On May 17, 2023, the City of Indianapolis, Office of Minority & Women Business Development sponsored a Diversity Outreach Event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to encourage developers to keep women-, minority-, and veteran-owned businesses in mind for upcoming project opportunities and proposals. Debbie Oatts, President of Nubian Construction Group, spoke with Wish TV’s Business, Equity & Opportunities Show about why these types of opportunities are so essential to these businesses in particular, as well as to the community.
“It’s not just about building the building, it’s about building people’s lives,” Debbie shared. She explained that when minority-, women-, and veteran-owned businesses are given the opportunity engage in construction projects throughout the city, they are able to grow their businesses as a result. When more businesses are able to contribute to and participate in the local economy, this in turn lifts up the entire community. “It makes all of us winners,” Debbie said. “We all become champions.”
